October offers a first preview of the second design line from SklO Studios along with new jewelry work by Karen Gilbert.
The gallery will also be exhibiting Karen Gilbert’s one of a kind wall brooches selected for the international exhibition GlassWear, organized jointly by the Museum of Arts and Design, New York and the Schmuckmuseum, Pforzheim, Germany.
The catalog included in the exhibition showcases the work of 60 of the world's leading jewelry artists and will be available in the gallery.
Karen Gilbert is a nationally exhibited, published and award winning artist who lives and works in Sonoma County. Karen`s jewelry explores ideas of beauty and comfort by merging materials of contrasting nature and challenging conceptions of form and function. Working with materials such as oxidized sterling silver, stainless steel, glass, precious stones, fabrics and textiles, the sculptural nature of her jewelry finds inspiration in the microcosm of our everyday world, exposing "the smallest as a visual representation of the larger complexity".
SkLO is a new collaboration between Pavel Hanousek, and husband and wife design team, Karen Gilbert and Paul Pavlak - with Hanousek bringing his intuitive knowledge of his native Czech glassblowing, and Gilbert and Pavlak bringing a multi-disciplinary approach to art and design.
Working directly with the Glass Masters in their studios in the Czech Republic, designers Gilbert and Pavlak bring a new modern sensibility to the handmade, hand-blown Czech glass tradition. While remaining rooted in the unique synergy found between the discipline of design and the craft of the Czech glassworks, SkLO is going beyond glass and glassblowing to create a vibrant, modern new design brand.
Offering cutting edge design. Clean lines, simple forms, and an emphasis on materiality. Timeless and Modern.
