INTRODUCING NEW WORK IN CERAMICS
beginning mid november the gallery will be introducing ceramic work by artist fenella elms. we will be showing her spectacular wall pieces alongside the ceramic work of shannon sullivan and heather knight.
fenella elms is a british artist, whose ceramic sculptures and wall pieces are recognized for their technical ingenuity, intricate textures and sculptural forms. the wall-mounted work featured at gallery lulo is composed of complex layers of tiny discs in clay. the craftsmanship is refined and elegant, while the pieces display the illusion of movement and growth of the natural worlds. of her work fenella says, "aspects of my past career in mental health continue to influence my work with clay:the subconscious approach, a sense of rhythm, attention to detail and difference. i don`t seek to put my experiences into the clay, but marvel at how they emerge."
fenella was the 2011 recipient of the ceramic review award for exceptional, innovative and challenging work at ceramic art london, royal college of art. she graduated in 2008 from hnc ceramics at swindon college. she lives and works from her studio in wiltshire, great britain.
