OPENING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11TH 5-8PM
BIBA SCHUTZ JEWELRY SHOW
Biba Schutz | On The Road
Opening reception will be October 11th 2014 from 5-8pm. The artist Biba Schutz will be present to introduce a completely new line of work in jewelry. The series entitled "On The Road" explores new designs in bronze, paper and leather. Biba`s use of the bronze work uncovers a unique patina in faded blacks and golds. The eroded expression of the pieces speak to the idea of discovery and revelation.
New York based art jeweler Biba Schutz has been celebrated in numerous publications, exhibitions and countless awards. Primarily self-taught, but with a background in printmaking and graphics, Biba continues to be intrigued by lines, form, space, places to hide and texture. Her asymmetrical compositions and sculptural forms - often crafted from assorted metals such as bronze, copper and silver - represent her idea of jewelry and its relationship to the body.
Schutz`s work can be found in public and private collections around the world including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston MA; Corning Museum of Glass, Corning,NY;Newark Museum, Newark, NJ;Racine Art Museum, Racine, WI; Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, DC; and Rotasa Foundation, Mill Valley, CA.
