Didi Suydam
Didi Suydam creates pure abstract forms that are not only wearable, but stand alone as objects. She often juxtaposes angular, architectural lines with organic, sensual forms, demonstrating both a rational and an intuitive approach to her work. Her forms have an archetypal presence, often suggesting tribal masks and vessels, as well as the ancient ritual and tradition of body adornment and armor.
Didi received her BFA in metals from the Rhode Island School of Design. She has exhibited and sold her work through galleries and shops nationally and internationally. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Debeers Diamond Design Award, and fellowships in craft from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.
Didi Suydam lives and works in Newport, Rhode Island.
