Julia Turner

Julia Turner's work has been exhibited in solo shows nationally and internationally as well as widely published. Schooled in the United States and Europe, she currently creates her designs and studio pieces in San Francisco. Julia's primary material is manipulated wood, stained or burnt to achieve the desired appearance, before incorporating metals such as gold, sterling silver or steel. “As I experiment more and more with a specific approach and become more discerning about what i see emerging, i begin to see the unnecessary elements fall away, leaving room for a more straightforward kind of interaction to take place. eventually the free exploration of shapes and surfaces takes precedence over technical issues and I come to what I think may be the "real" piece of jewelry.”
